St George's Day

23/4/2012

Chronia polla to all the Georges, and a special happy name-day to my brother-in-law George.
Today is St George's Day, when the church commemorates one of its most popular saints, patron saint of England and something very like a patron saint to Greece and Russia. The image of St George, mounted on his white horse, slaying the dragon and rescuing the maiden, has become the very icon of the Christian's struggle against evil.
